Open Positions

Teacher

  • We are hiring PreK ESE teacher(s) for our Lakeland school for the 2024-2025 school year beginning in August. Achievement Academy is a public charter school and teacher certification is required.

    Bachelor’s degree or higher is required and you must hold either a valid Florida Certificate for full-time teaching or a valid Florida Statement of Status of Eligibility (SOE) which deems you eligible to hold a Florida Certificate for full-time teaching. This position requires certification in PreK-Primary or Preschool Education (Birth-Age 4).

    A CDA is not a replacement for this certification-teachers must have or be eligible for DOE state certification.

    Achievement Academy follows Polk County School District’s student calendar and is competitive with the salary scale for teachers. Beginning teachers start at $47,500 and increases with experience. Hours for teachers is from 8am to 3:30pm. Experience with young children a must; experience with special needs is preferred. Classrooms have 11-12 special needs PreK students and 1-2 full-time paraprofessionals for assistance. Teaching responsibilities include lesson planning, student assessment, goal development, data collection, progress reporting, IEP development and implementation, etc.

    Requirements include:

    • Proven ability as a highly effective teacher of PreK ESE students
    • Successful classroom/behavior management of young special needs students with a variety of exceptionalities.
    • Good interpersonal skills with student’s parents and colleagues.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with each student’s team members-parents, therapists, ESE facilitator, nurse, administration-to provide a successful environment in which students will thrive and grow.
    • Successful supervisory skills of paraprofessional(s).

Paraprofessionals

  • We are hiring classroom paraprofessionals for our Lakeland school for the 2024/25 school year. This position works closely with the teacher and one other para in a classroom of 11 students with special needs. Hours for paraprofessionals are 8:00am to 3:00pm, Monday-Friday while following the traditional school calendar of Polk County. The successful candidate has graduated from an accredited high school or has completed a GED, has experience working with infants/toddlers in a preschool classroom setting and must be sincerely interested in educating and working with exceptional children. Fingerprinting, background clearance and drug screening is required before hiring. Salary and benefits competitive with the school district. Early Interventionist

  • We are seeking an Early Interventionist to join the Birth to Three program.  This program provides home-based early intervention services throughout the County to children from birth to three years of age who may be at-risk of having developmental delays and/or have been identified with a specific delay.   Understanding that parents are a child’s first teacher, parental involvement is key to the effectiveness of the program.  A successful candidate must be knowledgeable in child development, developmentally appropriate practices and milestones.  A minimum of 1 year of experience working with at-risk/developmentally delayed children from birth to 3 years of age or 5 years experience out of field with Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood, or related field preferred.  The full job description can be viewed here.
